Mobile

One of my Artwalk patrons suggested I create illustrations of other Alabama cities besides Birmingham. So I accepted that challenge, and enjoyed discovering themes and vibes for each of the cities. Mobile, one of Alabama's oldest cities, is home to the first Mardi Gras celebration in the US (watch out for flying Moon Pies!). A port city located at the confluence of Mobile Bay and Mobile River, the Mobile area provides a bounty of wildlife - from birds, fish, shrimp, alligators and red-bellied turtles (black bears are purported to seek refuge in the river delta). Mobile retains its ties to centuries past in Fort Conde, Dauphin Street, Bienville Square, the Saenger Theatre and the Battle House Hotel, and also boasts the state's tallest building (RSA Tower).
