Watercolor mixed-media illustration printed as wall coverings
I designed two 10 x 20 foot wall coverings for the new family rooms at the Ronald McDonald House. Birmingham Icons depicts landmarks and objects in Birmingham that represent both its historical significance and current
developments. Sloss Furnaces and Vulcan harken back to the city's beginnings as an industrial town, while Railroad Park and the Rotary Trail translate that heritage into new green spaces.
Standing at the intersection of 17th Street and 4th Avenue, the Ronald McDonald House welcomes families to the community, offering support, comfort and hope during their stay.
Flying Things displays animals that can fly on their own or
with props, illuminating an imaginative world where anything is possible. Their journey represents the community of love, comfort and hope provided by the Ronald McDonald House.
The accompanying inspirational words and phrases illustrate the House's mission to serve families in an inviting, supportive environment.
